Banksy Soldier Mini Blotter Art
Banksy's - Soldier Mini Blotter Art Print
This blotter art print features Banksy’s 2007 piece originally painted in Israeli on the West Bank barrier. The design depicts a soldier in Banksy’s signature stencil and style, a politically charged commentary on both conflict and authority.
Blotter art and graffiti share a common origin, blotter was created to be consumed disappearing, it was never invented to be a permanent art piece. Graffiti was made knowing it would likely be removed, painted over, or weathered away.
In both cases, the work was never intended to last. Its temporary nature was part of its attraction and purpose. Neither began as a collectors item or fine art pieces, but both represent an artistic expression from different countercultural movements.
Over time, collectors began to preserve what was once consumable or destroyed. Unused blotter sheets and documented "street sheets" are now considered as cultural artifacts, a part of psychedelic history that should be preserved.
The rise of Banksy and street art collecting closely mirrors the growing market for blotter art. What was once temporary, illegal, or overlooked is now archived, exhibited, and valued as parts of human history.
